DHMS Site Council
The Dzantik’i Heeni Site Council’s goal is to decentralize decision-making to improve the effectiveness of our school community and maximize learning for students. The Council works to assure that all constituencies have a voice in the decisions that affect them. Council meetings are open to everyone. The Site Council is established according to Juneau School District Board Policy #8140.

The site council consists of 15 members representing the school community. Membership will include: one teacher from each house (3), one teacher from the exploratory team, one representative from the Child Intervention Team, (one teacher will also represent the interests of JEA), one representative from the support staff, one administrative representative, one parent from each house (3), one parent representing the parent population at large, two PTO representatives (president & representative), one student representative from student council, and one minority representative. Terms of office run from September to September. One-year terms with no term limits are to be established. It is the desire of the Council that less than 50% of the members change in any one-year; therefore, consecutive terms are encouraged, but not required.

Each constituency group will select/elect a person to represent it on the Council. To recruit, select, and/or elect members, the constituency groups are encouraged to use staff mail boxes, school bulletin boards, school newsletter, PTO meetings, email, and open house. Members agree to allow publication of their email addresses and telephone numbers.

Site Council meets every second Wednesday of the month at 5 p.m. in the Dzantik'i Heeni Library.
