| FIRST LEGO League |
The FIRST LEGO League, considered the "little league" of the FIRST Robotics Competition, is the result of a partnership between FIRST and the LEGO Company. FLL extends the FIRST concept of inspiring and celebrating science and technology to children aged 9 through 14, using real-world context and hands-on experimentation.
With the help of LEGO® MINDSTORMS™ Robotics Invention System™ technology, young participants can build a robot and compete in a friendly, FIRST-style robotics event specially designed for their age group. Using LEGO bricks and other elements such as sensors, motors, and gears, teams gain hands-on experience in engineering and computer programming principles as they construct and program their unique robot inventions. |

Well, it's never too soon to begin practicing words like plausible and medallion. The Merriam-Webster Spelling Bee booklets are available from your Language Arts teacher or online for FREE at the following links:
Spell It 2009
Spell It 2009 Challenge Words
But to win you must do more than practice spelling words; you must compete in your team's home base spelling bees. Once you have claimed one of these two titles, it's on to the school-wide spelling bee, where twenty winners will provide tough competition.
Feeling invincible? Then undertake the quest to capture the coveted DHMS Spelling Bee title. |

| Yearbook |
Yearbook is a group of students who design and create the school yearbook. Students learn numerous computer, photography and organizational skills in order to complete this task. Yearbook club will be meeting on an as needed basis. Students are responsible for their pages and each deadline is different. For this reason students will be asked to work on their pages before their deadline only. There will occasional times when a student will need to remain after school to take photos of clubs or sporting activities. If this is the case a student should notify a parent/ guardian and the adviser of the club in advance.
