Discovery Program - The Discovery program for 3-5 grades brings a naturalist into the classroom to introduce children to the environment in which we live and leads them on field trips to discover the outdoors. The Nature Studies programs strives to heighten youth's knowledge of local natural history and ecological systems; to engage youngsters in physical experiences of their natural home; to strengthen and deepen children's connections with Southeast Alaska; to promote personal responsibility and respect for self, classmates, teachers, and nature; and to cultivate the roots of stewardship for this land.  The naturalist spends 12 hours with the students with 2/3 of that time outside. School Spirit - Glacier Valley School Song

At the base of Thunder Mountain
Lies a school we call our own.
Full of people short and tall,
It's a school that feels like home.Glacier Valley, the school that opens doors.
Glacier Valley, the school that opens doors,
The school that opens doors.People, that's what we're about
People, and each of us count.
Home of the blue Glacier Bear
And eagles soar up in the air.
Teachers that really care
Teach us to be kind and fair.
We love our fabulous school
And we think the teachers are cool.Glacier Valley, the school that opens doors.
Glacier Valley, the school that opens doors,
The school that opens doors.
