A Message From Our MRCS Principal
COME SEE OUR BEAR STORY PERFORMANCE! FLOYD DRYDEN GYM, 2/10 @ 6PM. Children should arrive at 5:45pm.
Greetings from Juneau, Alaska!
I extend a warm welcome to all our students, parents, members of our community, and visitors from afar. Mendenhall River Community School, home of the Eagles, is committed to providing a rich instructional program appropriate to each child’s needs. MRCS proudly demonstrates a spirit of teamwork. Students, staff, families and community collaborate in celebrating our diversity as we strive to provide the best possible educational experience for ALL students.
Our goal is to:
- Provide a challenging curriculum;
- Maintain high standards for achievement;
- Hold students accountable for their learning;
- Build positive self image;
- Maintain an ongoing partnership between school and home
- Provide a safe and nurturing environment;
- Help each other to be successful.
Our school participates in an innovative program called Launching Literacy every Friday afternoon. After an early dismissal, teachers and support staff work together to enhance and improve instructional techniques; collaborate with each other to develop and implement intervention plans; work together to develop strategies to challenge students that have already mastered grade level material; and participate in focused staff development utilizing the most up to date and current research available. As you can tell, to be part of the MRCS staff you MUST be a lifelong learner, continually improving, implementing newly learned techniques and refining your practice as a teacher. Is Launching Literacy working? Absolutely – we have made tremendous growth over the last three years! I am very proud of our staff and students. Way to go MRCS…
I invite you to help us reach our goals and be an active part of our MRCS school team.
Hand in Hand, We ALL Learn!
