spacer “Can you hear the Thunder?” I love that sign! Our new spirit club made a couple welcoming signs as well as some other signs to help build school spirit at Thunder Mountain. Look around and check them out.

In case you missed the newspaper articles or radio announcements, we are in the midst of an exciting sports and activities season at TMHS! Basketball boys are proving to be a force to be reckoned with both in Southeast and the state. In December they took second place at the Soltdotna tournament and in January they split some games with one of our conference rivals, the Ketchikan Kings. Our first games with the Bears are coming up February 5th and 6th and coach Blasco has been busy preparing the boys for an exciting weekend of competition. Games will be at TMHS on Friday and JDHS on Saturday. Wear your blue for the Saturday games at JDHS.

The basketball girls have shown growth and improvement with each game they play. Coaches from other teams have commented that they are looking forward to seeing the girls compete over the next few years. Coach Nizich has been working with the girls on consistency and you can certainly see the talent she imparts on the girls with each game. They just got back from a tournament at East high where they realized they have the skill to hang with the established teams and give them a run for their money as well! We are looking forward to their first win, which will certainly be a celebration for all. I have a feeling the win is just around the corner. Go Falcons!

Our cheer squad has done an outstanding job building school spirit and cheering on our teams. Coach Lee has been busy preparing the team to compete at the Regional tournament and at State. We look forward to their competition results and as always we look forward to seeing them cheer on our teams.
