Yaakoosge Daakahidi Alternative High School . . . .
is a City and Borough of Juneau School District high school program designed to provide an opportunity for students outside the mainstream to receive an education and graduate with a diploma.
Yaakoosge Daakahidi means "House of Knowledge" in the Tlingit language. Tlingit elder, Anna Katzeek is credited for naming the program. The alternative school is an attractive option provided by the school district, as evidenced by its wonderfully diverse student population. This diversity by grade, ethnicity, socio-economic status, and gender is bridged by a common desire . . . to obtain a diploma. This program is the last option before pursuing a G.E.D. or leaving school entirely; although our doors are always open to students who leave and want to return.
Our Mission . . .
Yaakoosge Daakahidi Alternative High School is a small educational community that serves students who come from varied life experiences and desire a personalized path to graduation.
We value academics; relationships; work readiness, and community partnerships,
as we provide students an opportunity to obtain their
high school diploma and transition to adulthood.
