After listening, reading and telling folktales, Ms. Frangos’ 3rd & 4th grade class wrote their own pourquoi or “why” tales about an Alaskan animal and how that animal’s  characteristics or behavior came to be.  They also researched the science behind their questions. After working through the writing, editing and publishing process, students created their own illustration using collage and then hand-bound their book. 

Families and friends heard these authors read their books at a Glacier Valley literacy night and during visits to their classrooms.
