Mrs. DeGrote created this iMovie with support from the Glacier Valley Librarian and Literacy Leader.  She shared this video as part of a 1st grade presentation at one Glacier Valley Library’s literacy nights.  The video illustrates “Tools of Good Readers” and how parents can practice reading strategies with their childr when reading together.

Strategies include: 

1. • Introducing Book Choices and New Vocabulary,
   

2. • Point to the Words While Reading,
   

3. • Go Back and Read It Again,
   

4. • Use Pictures to Confirm,
   

5. • Look for Smaller Words,
