Dear Students and Parents,

Welcome to the sixth grade team at Dzantik'i Heeni Middle School. We hope you’ve had a great summer. We are looking forward to meeting you and having an exciting year together. A major goal of our sixth grade program is to develop/maintain a strong sense of individual responsibility in our students. Being prepared at the start of the school year gets students started on their way to a successful year.

The following information is to help you start off the year well.

SUPPLIES needed the FIRST DAY of school:

1. #2 pencils and white lined paper

2. A three-ring binder or accordion folder with subject dividers or folders, for daily papers to take from class to class

3. A 1inch three ring notebook binder for loose-leaf paper to be kept in the language arts/social studies classroom

4. 2 spiral notebooks

5. Glue, ruler, magic markers, and colored pencils

6. One box of tissue for room supply and/or Lysol wipes

7. Book for silent reading

8. 4 expo markers, 5 glue sticks (for shared classroom use)

Students will need to have backpacks, binders, and supplies that can fit into their lockers. Classroom desks will not be used for storage.

Our Classroom Rules:

1. Be prepared for class on time with pencil, paper, and assignments.

2. Stay in assigned area.

3. Do not interrupt classroom activities.

4. Respect the rights of others.

5. Listen to whomever is speaking at all times

6. Obey all school rules, including the NO HATS and NO ELECTRONICS rule.

Rewards for Following the Rules

A BETTER EDUCATION! Increased self-confidence and self esteem!

Also movies, parties, field trips, praise notes or calls home, and other rewards and awards as appropriate.
